Nine Pies Pizzeria is a New York-style pizzeria offering pizza by the slice, whole pies, pasta, calzones, appetizers, salads and desserts. In addition, they also serve craft beers and wines from our neighbor, Nine Hats Wines.
The Nine Hats tasting room adjoins Nine Pies Pizzeria and is separated by a large sliding glass door. With its modern-eclectic vibe, the facility features a baby grand piano, an antique toy collection, a mahogany bar and casual seating areas with comfortable, overstuffed chairs. It also has a conference room available for business meetings or private celebrations.
Kemp’s VPN-certified Pizzeria 22 has been a mainstay of Eater’s essential Seattle pizza restaurants for years. His pizzas at Nine Pies come in 14 and 18-inch options, plus a 12-inch gluten-free alternative. Topping combinations include the Bacchetta, with pepperoni, pineapple, roasted jalapeno, chili oil, mozzarella, parmesan, and tomato sauce, as well as the Siluro, with rosemary-roasted Yukon Gold potatoes, pancetta, red onion, gorgonzola, and mozzarella.
Diners can also build their pies and supplement the meal with appetizers like stuffed mushrooms and bruschetta, salads, calzones, pasta, sides, and a meatball sandwich.

Breezy Town Pizza restaurant in Georgetown, Seattle, is a pizza place that doesn’t limit itself to being exactly Chicago-style or Detroit-style. Instead, breezy Town is meant to poke fun, to remind us you can be authentic to your roots while taking a cuisine in a direction it hasn’t yet gone. Amazingly delicious results are what matters above all.
The edges have a nice cheesy caramelization that makes the pizza what it is. They use sourdough for the dough here, making it crispy but soft and light. Unlike Windy City Pizza (sister establishment), they also use Wisconsin Brick cheese with their mozzarella, really adding to the pizza.
The pizzas are thick deep dishes, so if you eat two or three slices, you’ll feel like you’ve eaten five or six regular slices; it’s very filling. They also have a couple of pinball machines and a stage with speakers, a mirror ball and lights, so they have entertainment there too.

South Town Pie is located in the upstart neighborhood of South Park. Crannell’s serious cooking will shine in 18-inch Brooklyn tavern-style pies. The sauce is Neapolitan, the tomatoes San Marzano; the flour for the dough comes from Small’s Family Farm in Walla Walla, and the meat from Zoe’s.
Fitting for a restaurant next to Loretta’s, an old-school dive bar and burger joint, South Town Pie is going for a throwback vibe with vinyl booths, a 30-foot wooden bar top, and a promise to keep things affordable. Beer will flow from 12 taps and wine, tallboys, and cocktails for under $10. And unlike Loretta’s, South Town Pie will welcome all ages.

Tutta Bella, Seattle’s first Neapolitan pizzeria. They strictly adhere to the exact Verace Pizza Napoletana standards to create the same pizza you get in Naples.
The dome-shaped ovens (Columbia City’s oven looks square but has a domed interior) funnel the heat, allowing you to “smoke” the pizza briefly at the end of the 90 seconds it takes to cook it perfectly.
The toppings show zealous attention to proportion, quality, and authenticity, from real San Marzano tomatoes in the sauce to a seasonal wild mushroom special heavy with fungi. Salads and desserts are the only extras; the shaved fennel in the Insalata di Salerno is an especially nice home-country touch.
They make their salad dressing from scratch, and Joe feels their Caesar “is as good, if not better, than you’d get at a fine-dining restaurant.”
Cocktails are made from Italian spirits and grappa. Brandon Hamlett, the general manager at Columbia City, is their mixologist and creates the cocktail offerings for all locations.

The focus here is authentic Italian-style Neapolitan pizza. The dough has the perfect texture, the sauce has the right balance of sweet to acidic, and the mozzarella is intensely flavorful.
Pronounced ‘pool chee nel la,’ Pizzeria Pulcinella is named after a character from a 17th-century Italian Commedia dell’Arte who is largely recognized as the symbol of Naples.
The pizzeria has a Valoriani wood fire oven from Italy that they use for all their pizzas, allowing the pizza to be cooked for 90 seconds at 800-900 degrees, a key to authentic Neapolitan pizza.

Flying Squirrel Pizza Co. is located in a trendy residential neighborhood in downtown Seattle, WA. They offer many local craft beers and wines in a pleasant, low-key bar setting.
Flying Squirrel has been one of the more celebrated independent pizzerias in the city since coming onto the scene in 2008, drawing crowds for the pies loaded with special toppings, such as pulled pork with cotija cheese, or the occasional limited-time offerings, such as mole salami. All the music played at the various locations comes from mixtapes brought in by customers, and each restaurant is family-friendly.
Flying Squirrel is all about artisan toppings—cured meats from Salumi, chicken from Roy’s BBQ, Maytag blue cheese, and locally grown produce—on chewy, sinking crusts bound up with tangy tomato sauce. It offers a few tables in shiny, crisply appointed spaces, stellar pies, salads, apps, and ice creams.
The only negative aspect of this local favorite, is that they offer pizza in one size, a large 16”. If you are dining solo, it is too much for one person, and you will undoubtedly leave with leftovers.
