In 2021, Chef Jimmy and Annette White opened Above Ground Pizza after the unexpected closure of the best joint in New Braunfels in 2018, the Underground Pizza.
Above Ground Pizza features a wood-burning oven and pizza dough with a sourdough starter. Fresh salads, grinder sandwiches and calzones are featured on the menu, and the pizzas incorporate traditional and unique flavors.
The concept of AGP was designed to be chef-driven. Fires to be attended to, sausages to smoke, starters, and sourdough to maintain. They purposely stepped back in time and did things the old-school way. Every speck of food produced here is made with love and the intent for you to feel that love.

Dave and Christina Cinotto bought The Oyster Bar with a business partner in 2013. And since then, the full-service kitchen and seafood bar has become a staple of the food and drink scene in Downtown New Braunfels.
With a nod to the historical past of the building, previously occupied by Ludwig’s Leather for more than 50 years, Bootleggers Pizza Parlor is a prohibition-era juke joint that specializes in delicious pizza by the slice, 22 drafts, unique cocktails, beer billiards, games, and more.
It’s a pub-ish atmosphere that is appropriate to take kids around dinner that turns more bar-ish at night. There’s a bar with seats, T.V.s, and a mini Dave and Busters setup at the back, with pool tables, arcade games, Pacman, and a basketball game.
The pizza comes in two sizes, 15″ and 12″. Their pizza is also available by the slice, and the kitchen stays open late. So at least stop in for a slice if you are in a rush. Pasta, sandwiches, sides and N.Y. Cheesecake for dessert are also a must-try.

Di’s Homemade pizza is a family-run business right across the street from Schlitterbahn’s Blastenhoff. Every pizza is made with fresh homemade dough, hand-tossed, rolled, topped with fresh meats and vegetables with a generous helping of Di’s special selected mozzarella cheese and then cooked on stones inside good old Bertha, the pizza oven.
You won’t find waiters or waitresses here, and there are very few tables and chairs in the pizza restaurant, so most people tend to drop by and get the pizza to go. All pizzas are large, so you can share or keep them as leftovers for the next day.
