Rick Grabowski owned his shop, Rick’s Pizza, in Saratoga Springs, and he sold that business after five years in 1990 and moved to Queensbury. They bought a pizzeria at their former Aviation Road location, Boppitt’s, but quickly renamed it Amore Pizza. Over the past 32 years, the Grabowski family has operated Amore Pizza.
Amore is serving New York City, Neopolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas using only the finest ingredients, like tomatoes grown in the California sun and packed fresh in season, for their special sauce. And top each pie with only 100% real mozzarella cheese. They make their dough fresh every day for that perfect crust. In addition, Amore offers chicken wings, calzones, hot and cold subs, and non-alcoholic beverages.
The shop can now seat about 20 customers for indoor dining but is still primarily a take-out and delivery operation. They deliver within three to five miles of the restaurant. It is open from 11am to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to 10pm Friday and Saturday.

For Giulio Amato, making pizzas is a family tradition. He has been making them with his father since he was a child. So Giulio has a long family history of pizza making. He has now opened his own restaurant, MIA Pizzeria, at 406 Corinth Road in Queensbury.
The Amato family lived in Sicily before moving to the United States. The family owns several pizza parlors. Amato’s brother operates Pope’s Pizza in Saratoga Springs.
At the center of the MIA Pizzeria operation is the pizza, with an authentic Sicilian recipe using lots of cheese and fresh toppings. A large pizza is more than 18 inches in diameter, which Amato said is more than two inches larger than what most pizzerias serve.
MIA Pizzeria offers American pizza favorites such as pepperoni and sausage and some Sicilian favorites. In addition to pizza, MIA Pizzeria provides meals such as lasagna, eggplant and chicken parmesan, veal, and pasta dishes. All entrees are prepared in Sicilian fashion.
The pizzeria opens Tues. to Thurs. 11am – 9pm, Fri. & Sat. 11am – 10pm, Sun & Mon. CLOSED.

The owners, Julie Hart Young and Jedidiah Murphy have worked in the restaurant business most of their lives. Julie’s family tree–the Hart family– had already established roots in this area for many years in the pizza business.
The restaurant has a more modern feel than any pizza shop. Inside the shop is seating for approximately 20 people, free Wi-Fi, outlets to charge phones, and some good music.
The pizza also has a “take and bake” option, where the pizza is assembled but not cooked. Instead, customers take it home to bake at their leisure. Despite the restaurant name, the options are not limited to just pizza. There are sandwiches, french fries, salads, chicken wings, melts and appetizers. They also offer homemade cheesecake that differs in flavors weekly and other desserts.
